HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THE LORD

Joshua 1:8 

In order to be a successful Christian, you must first become a Christian.' Jesus said, "Ye must be born again..." (John 3:7). In order to be born again, you must, by faith, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour. (Acts 20:21; Luke 13:3; John 1:12, 13). After you start right, then you need to: 

I.  SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES DAILY (Acts 17:1)  Each day you should study the Bible. The word "success" is mentioned only one time in the Bible (Josh. 1:8), and this verse tells us that we must meditate in the Bible day and night, and then obey it, in order to be a success. 

II.  UNCEASINGLY PRAY - (I Thes. 5:17)  The Christians who amount to anything for God are like the first-century Christians who said, "But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word" (Acts 6:4); 

III. CONFESS CHRIST - (Matt. 10:32, 33; Rom. 10:9,10; Acts 1:8) Don't be ashamed of Christ - tell others about Him. "Silence is golden" is an old saying, but sometimes it's just plain "yellow". 

IV. CONFESS EVERY KNOWN SIN -1 John 1:9  Sin in a Christian's life will break fellowship with God, but confession will restore it. "Keep short accounts with God." 

V.  ENTER THE SERVICES OF A GOOD BIBLE-PREACH­ING CHURCH (Heb. 10:25)  As soon as you are saved, be baptized and enter into the fellow­ship and services of a good, Bible-preaching, Bible-loving and Bible-living church (Acts 2:41,42). 

VI. SET ASIDE AT LEAST ONE-TENTH OF YOUR INCOME FOR THE LORD'S WORK - (I Cor. 16:2; II Cor. 8:7,8; 9:6.7) God's people in the Old Testament were commanded to give 10 per cent to the Lord. Should we under grace in the New Testa­ment give less? 

VII. SURRENDER TO THE HOLY SPIRITS WORKING IN YOUR LIFE-Gal 5:16  No person can really be a success as God counts success unless he is filled with the Holy Spirit. Eph5:18 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the spirit."
